Babbage Palisade and Academy of Industry
Woodworker and craftsman extraordinaire Canolli Capalini has a secret: she’s exceptionally good at luring unsuspecting salon proprietresses into her shop with exquisitely crafted music boxes of all shapes and sizes. As a late rez-day present to Viv, Canolli has agreed to talk to us about her music boxes and their history. What: Aether Salon
When: Sunday, the 21st of June, at 2pm SLT
Where: New Babbage Palaside
If trying to attend all of the Grand Tour III events weren’t enough, the Steampunk Salon will be in progress today, at 2pm SLT, with “Fey” as the “topic du jour“. To steal the narration from Miss Trafalgar…
…Fairy dust, fairy rings, fey looks, changelings, fairy cake – what do you believe? What is merely myth-twined-mist? Join those who know that the Fae are not mere creatures from children’s books. They take many forms. They are dark, dangerous, beautiful, and innocent – often all at the same time.
The Aether Salon will explore the world of the Fey with CorpseLight DeSantis and TotalLunar Eclipse (and it would have been three if Tenk hadn’t gotten shanghaied) on June 21 at 2pm slt at Aether Salon.
The Consulate of Europa Wulfenbach is proud to sponsor this seating of the Aether Salon. We support this energetic exchange of knowledge among the people of the steamlands for the betterment of us all.
See you there!Viv & Sera,Aether Salon of Babbage(http://aethersalon.blogspot.com)
I believe the last event of the Grand tour starts at 1500 (3pm) SLT, so visiting the Salon is a great way to end the exhausting weekend! Do stop by!

This Sunday, from 2 to 3 pm SLT, will be the seventh installment of the Aether Salon, focusing upon Submersibles, in historical fact and speculative fiction. The location has changed…
Due to unforeseen circumstances and the capability to add a “field trip” to the venue in order to show off the CSS Hunley cutaway model of Mr. Kiergarten, the AETHER SALON set for Sunday at 2PM, SLT, at the New Babbage Palisades has relocated to The Auditorium at Artificial Isle (click for SLURL).
The Program will commence with a demonstration of Mr. Jasper Kiergarten’s cutaway C.S.S. HUNLEY model, and a description of the build itself (roughly ten minutes). This presentation will be followed by Commodore Hotspur O’Toole of the Fleet of Wrath Exiles. He will lead a general discussion of the development of Submersibles up until the time of the American Civil War, the use of submersibles as weapons of war, and the technology challenges faced by the pioneers of undersea warfare. (roughly twenty minutes)
The program will end with general questions and comments from the audience.
The Aether Salon is a program of volunteer lectures of general interest to the Steamland community of Second Life.

The Aether Salon will host its next topic: Shimmy! To quote the lovely Miss Serafina Puchkina, a hostess of the salon, this topic is about
… a buttoned-up, straight-laced world, where the seamy side is hidden from view by layer upon layer of … well … layers, Burlesque is all about peeling away the sham with humor and music. While society goes to great lengths to cover itself, the burlesque stage features the ankles, knees… and gasp! wit of some of the finest (and yes, most scandalous) female performers of the age, dancing, acting, and singing parodies of popular shows.
Please stow your assumptions and join us at the Aether Salon on March 15 for Shimmy! a tasteful tease into the art of burlesque.
Miss Ahnyanka Delphin, owner of The New Champagne Rooms, and Miss Ceejay Writer, dancer/manager at The New Champagne Rooms will join us to discuss the history and art of burlesque. We are very excited to have them with us, and look forward to a lively discussion afterwards.

A quick reminder… the Aether Salon, the most visited academic Steampunk endeavor in Second Life, will hold its next session today, focusing on “Villians!” To quote the lovely Miss Viv Trafalgar, the hostess of the Salon…
Has the Briliant Doctor Obolensky met his match in the suave and mysterious Baron Klaus Wulfenbach? When these collide, who will be left standing (or will we all be left standing on the tracks!?)
Join us from 2 to 3:30 pm SLT for the clash between these two veritible titans of power!
Gasp! Quail! Hide behind your hands! (But please leave your weapons and lag-inducing accoutriments at home!)
As always, a diabolical craft will be assembled at the conclusion of hte salon.
A smashing good time to be had today – do visit the Salon!

The very popular Aether Salon will be holding its monthly gathering this Sunday, December the 14th, at 2pm SLT (as per the placard), with the topic being “Howl!” The following informational narrative was provided by the lovely Miss Viv Trafalgar regarding the event…
Despite the fact that we are still finding pieces of the east wall in various parts of Babbage Palisades (thank you Mr. Streeter) following the rather explosive end to the Weapons! Salon… We are pleased to announce that The Aether Salon of Babbage will welcome the esteemed Dr. Augustus Dayafter for a discussion presenting the results of his medical investigation into the phenom of the Lycanthrope. Dr. Dayafter has informed us that he is uniquely qualified in this field, following a period of long study and careful observation.
Do make it a point to attend one of SL Steampunk’s most popular discussions!
