“No,” he said, “look, it’s very, very simple… all I want… is a cup of tea. You are going to make one for me. Keep quiet and listen.” And he sat. He told the Nutri-Matic about India, he told it about China, and he told it about Ceylon. He told it about broad leaves drying in the sun. He told it about silver teapots. He told it about summer afternoons on the lawn. He told it about putting in the milk before the tea so it wouldn’t get scalded. He even told it (briefly) about the history of the East India Company.”

-Douglas Adams, “The Restaurant at the End of the Universe”

There are many reasons to call our Tea Party a treat for the senses. Be it the delicious pastries, the elegant and casual setting, the VIP companionship, or the vast collection of over thirty exotic teas. But the standards of what sets our Tea Party apart came with a promise.

And as promised to our very first Tea Party host, the enigmatic and renowned Professor Elemental, arguably the greatest rapper in the entire history of the Victorian era, our standards for the Tea Party remain tactfully sound. After all, with that first tea party where lessons were soon learned, he took me aside, and said, “Jeffrey, my lad, you’re a good fellow, but if you ever serve that muck again and call it tea, I will personally plant you in the ground until you sprout leaves, and then I’ll refuse to drink them.”

…and that’s why we’re very, very careful to have really, really wonderful tea.

With that promise in mind, we have the privilege of working with people who make and collect some of the best tea in the world – Sympathy for the Kettle and Sacred Rose Tea, to name two. We are further fortunate by the gracious management of one of our host hotels, the Radisson who have been working with us for 11 years and trust us, therefore granting us permission to bring in our own tea and pastries – something few three-star hotels will allow. And to complement the various styles of tea, we are delighted by our close friendship with an award-winning Turkish cafe and bakery in Philadelphia.

With that, we happily welcome you to join the enchantments our Tea Party offers from exotic teas, Turkish pastries, and the pleasant company of our VIPs and atmospheric delights.
