The Golden Compass

Together, they evade the forces of the Magisterium, a churchlike organization that seeks to control Lyra’s world by capturing her father, the scientist John Parry (Jim Carter).

The film was released in the United States on December 7, 2007. It received mixed reviews from critics, who praised the visual effects and performances but criticized its writing and dark story. The Golden Compass grossed $372 million worldwide against a production budget of $180 million.

As with most movies made based on a book The Golden Compass does not live up to the book but I enjoyed The Golden Compass regardless. It had a great story and amazing visual effects. I would definitely recommend The Golden Compass to fans of steampunk fantasy and adventure movies.

From a steampunk perspective the files takes place in a parallel universe Victorian society. Nicole Kidman looks amazing in her 1800s outfit.

Abigail film is a 2016 American dark fantasy film written and directed by Bryan Bertino. The film stars Anya Taylor-Joy, James McAvoy, and Betty Buckley. It tells the story of a kidnapped girl and her captor, a deranged man named Kevin who has 23 personalities.

The film was released in the United States on July 14, 2017, by Universal Pictures. It received mixed reviews from critics, who praised the performances of McAvoy and Taylor-Joy but criticized the plot and execution.

The file has a great story and amazing performances by James McAvoy and Anya Taylor-Joy. Abby embarks on a fantastical steampunk journey that upends everything she thought she knew about the world, her family, and herself. I would definitely recommend Abigail.

He soon discovers that the star is not a mere meteor, but an entity with whom he must cross swords before she reverts back to her true form.

The film was released in the United Kingdom on August 9, 2007, and in the United States on October 19, 2007. It received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised the performances of the cast, Gaiman’s writing, and the fantasy elements. Stardust grossed $135 million worldwide against a production budget of $70 million.

Violet Evergarden: The Movie

Violet Evergarden: The Movie is an 2020 Japanese animated science fiction film based on the Violet Evergarden light novel series written by Kana Akatsuki and illustrated by Akiko Takase. It is produced by Kyoto Animation and directed by Taichi Ishidate.

The Movie. It follows Violet as she starts working at the CH Postal Company after leaving the military. There she meets new people, including a young girl named Iris who is searching for her mother. Its a great movie with an amazing story. Fans of steampunk and anime should definitely check it out when it comes out.

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters is a 2013 American dark fantasy action horror film written and directed by Tommy Wirkola. It stars Jeremy Renner, Gemma Arterton, Famke Janssen, Peter Stormare, and Thomas Mann. In the film, Hansel and Gretel are grown-up witches hunters who venture into the Black Forest to stop a bloodthirsty witch from eating children.

The film was released in the United States on January 25, 2013, by Paramount Pictures. It received mixed reviews from critics, who criticized its over-the-top violence and lack of originality, but praised the performances of Renner and Arterton. The film was a box office success, grossing over $225 million worldwide against a production budget of $50 million.
